Analysis Of Prodigy - Warriors Dance

The video I'm now looking at is Warriors dance by the Prodigy. The genre of the Prodigy's music would must likely be electric dance. The video could follow broad coventions of it's genre by not being centered aroud the artist in this case not showing the artist at all.

There are parts of the song in which the lyrics are illustarted by the visuals for istance at the being of the video during the line `Come with me to the dance floor'. While this line is being sung the visuals are illustrating this by the one cigarette box stamping it's feet and the other getting up like they are going to follow it. When this line is repeated i the song we also see the rest of the cigarette boxes turning into characters to join the others.

I would say that there is a strong relationship between the music and visuals, with things like the cigarette ma stamping with the beat at the begining. Also during the middle of the video as they find the matches and are about to pour the oil we get a sense of tesion building up in the music as well as building up tensio with the visuals. The shots of the video change pace with the music so at faster sections we see lots more different shots and cuts.

Due to the concept of this music video we don't see the artist at all. As the band are already well established and the genre of the music means that it's the actual music that is more important than the star image this doesn't matter. The fact there is no star in the video meas there arent as many close up as in something like a pop video. Although they don't have the star in the video they do represent the band by having it's spider logo based on the first set of cigarette boxes.

I would say that the video is concept based which gives it an interesting edge making it different to most other music videos that you would see on telly.
